Configuring Listen Before Talk and Short Control Signaling in Unlicensed Spectrum - A simplified explanation of the abstract

  • This abstract for appeared for US patent application number 17438242 Titled 'Configuring Listen Before Talk and Short Control Signaling in Unlicensed Spectrum'

Simplified Explanation

This disclosure describes techniques for configuring listen before talk (LBT) and short control signaling in unlicensed spectrum in a wireless communication system. A wireless device can establish a wireless link with a cellular base station in unlicensed spectrum. The wireless device receives configuration information for LBT, which determines if LBT is enabled for the wireless link. It also receives configuration information for short control signaling, which indicates if short control signaling is enabled for specific types of control signaling. The wireless device performs short control signaling with the cellular base station on the wireless link when it is enabled. This short control signaling can include uplink and/or downlink transmissions.

Original Abstract Submitted

This disclosure relates to techniques for configuring listen before talk and short control signaling in unlicensed spectrum in a wireless communication system. A wireless device may establish a wireless link with a cellular base station on a cell in unlicensed spectrum. The wireless device may receive listen-before-talk configuration information, where the listen-before-talk configuration information indicates whether listen-before-talk is configured for the wireless link. The wireless device may receive short control signaling configuration information, where the short control signaling configuration information indicates whether short control signaling is enabled for one or more types of control signaling. The wireless device may perform short control signaling with the cellular base station on the wireless link when short control signaling is enabled. The short control signaling performed between the cellular base station and the wireless device may include either or both of uplink transmissions or downlink transmissions.
