PARKING ASSIST DEVICE, PARKING ASSIST METHOD, AND VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240132057 titled 'PARKING ASSIST DEVICE, PARKING ASSIST METHOD, AND VEHICLE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a parking assist device with a retractable door handle that includes a built-in antenna for communication with a terminal carried by a user outside the vehicle. The device also includes an actuator to transition the door handle between states, controlled by a processor that communicates with the terminal and executes entry or exit control based on predetermined conditions related to the communication result.

  • The parking assist device includes a retractable door handle with a built-in antenna for communication with a terminal.
  • An actuator causes the door handle to transition between states, controlled by a processor that communicates with the terminal and executes entry or exit control based on communication results.

Potential Applications

The technology could be applied in parking systems to facilitate entry and exit control for vehicles, improving user experience and convenience.

Problems Solved

1. Difficulty in controlling vehicle entry and exit in parking spots. 2. Inconvenience for users in accessing parking spots efficiently.

Benefits

1. Enhanced user experience with automated entry and exit control. 2. Improved efficiency in parking operations. 3. Increased convenience for users accessing parking spots.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing parking systems in commercial parking lots, airports, shopping malls, and other high-traffic areas to streamline vehicle entry and exit processes.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be automated parking systems with sensors and actuators for vehicle entry and exit control, but the integration of a retractable door handle with a built-in antenna for communication with a terminal is a unique feature in this patent application.

Unanswered Questions

How does the communication between the door handle antenna and the terminal work in different environments or weather conditions?

The article does not provide details on the robustness of the communication system in varying environmental conditions.

What are the potential security measures in place to prevent unauthorized access to the parking assist device?

The article does not address the security features or protocols implemented to ensure the safety and privacy of the communication between the door handle antenna and the terminal.

Original Abstract Submitted

a parking assist device including a retractable door handle device that includes a door handle with a built-in antenna used for a communication with a terminal carried by a user positioned outside a host vehicle and an actuator that causes the door handle to transition from a first state to a second state, the parking assist device comprising a processor that is configured to communicate with the terminal using the antenna, and that is configured to execute entry control for allowing the host vehicle to enter a parking spot or exit control for allowing the host vehicle to exit from the parking spot when a predetermined condition related to a communication result is met, wherein the processor causes the door handle to transition to the second state when executing the entry control or the exit control.
