VEHICLE MOVING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240123969 titled 'VEHICLE MOVING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a vehicle moving apparatus that autonomously controls the power output from an internal combustion engine and an electric motor to move a vehicle. When acceleration is requested, the apparatus activates the electric motor if the requested power is below a certain threshold, and then activates the engine once the power reaches a higher threshold.

  • The apparatus autonomously controls the power output from an internal combustion engine and an electric motor to move a vehicle.
  • It activates the electric motor for acceleration when the requested power is below a certain threshold.
  • It then activates the engine once the requested power reaches a higher threshold.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, and hybrid vehicles to improve efficiency and performance in acceleration scenarios.

Problems Solved

1. Efficient power management during acceleration requests. 2. Seamless transition between electric motor and internal combustion engine power.

Benefits

1. Improved fuel efficiency. 2. Enhanced acceleration performance. 3. Reduced emissions.

Potential Commercial Applications

"Autonomous Power Management System for Vehicles"

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to power management systems in hybrid vehicles or electric vehicles that address similar challenges in optimizing power output for acceleration scenarios.

Unanswered Questions

How does the apparatus determine the optimal power output thresholds for activating the electric motor and engine during acceleration requests?

The patent application does not provide specific details on how the thresholds for activating the electric motor and engine are determined based on the requested power.

Are there any safety considerations or fail-safes in place to prevent potential issues during the transition between the electric motor and engine power activation?

The patent application does not mention any safety mechanisms or fail-safes that may be implemented to ensure a smooth transition between the electric motor and engine power activation.

Original Abstract Submitted

a vehicle moving apparatus executes a moving control to autonomously move a vehicle by controlling a power output from an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. when the vehicle is requested to be accelerated while the moving control is not executed, the apparatus keeps the engine deactivated and activates the motor while a requested power is smaller than a first start determination value, and starts to activate the engine when the requested power reaches the first start determination value. when the vehicle is requested to be accelerated while the moving control is executed, the apparatus keeps the engine deactivated and activates the motor while the requested power is smaller than a second start determination value, and starts to activate the engine when the requested power reaches the second start determination value. the second start determination value is smaller than the first start determination value.
