METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING USER CONSENT IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240137746 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING USER CONSENT IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The disclosure pertains to a method for providing user consent for a User Equipment (UE) in a 5G network by receiving a request message from a network apparatus to check if the UE can provide subscribed event information to a Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF), determining if consent can be provided, and sending a response message with a consent indication.

  • Explanation:

- Method for obtaining user consent in a 5G network for providing subscribed event information to NWDAF - Request message received from network apparatus with subscribed event information and consumer NF ID - UE determines consent based on preconfigured data - Response message sent by UE with consent indication to network apparatus

      1. Potential Applications:

- Enhanced user privacy protection in 5G networks - Efficient management of user data sharing in network analytics

      1. Problems Solved:

- Ensuring user consent is obtained before sharing subscribed event information - Streamlining the process of obtaining consent in a network environment

      1. Benefits:

- Improved user trust and transparency in data sharing practices - Compliance with data protection regulations in the telecommunications industry

      1. Potential Commercial Applications:
        1. Enhanced User Data Management in 5G Networks
      1. Possible Prior Art:

- Prior art related to user consent mechanisms in telecommunications networks

        1. Unanswered Questions:
        2. How does the method handle cases where the UE does not provide consent?

- In such cases, the network apparatus may need to adjust its data sharing practices or seek alternative methods for obtaining consent.

        1. What measures are in place to ensure the security of the consent process?

- Security protocols and encryption methods may be implemented to safeguard the consent exchange between the UE and the network apparatus.

Original Abstract Submitted

the disclosure relates to a 5g or 6g communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. embodiments herein is to provide a method for providing user consent for ue in a 5g network () by a ue (). the method includes receiving a request message from a network apparatus () to check with the ue () whether the network apparatus () can provide subscribed event information to a nwdaf (). the request message includes the subscribed event information and a consumer nf id to obtain consent from the ue (). further, the method includes determining, by the ue (), using the preconfigured data whether a consent can be provided for the subscribed event information to the nwdaf (). further, the method includes sending, by the ue (), a response message to the network apparatus (), wherein the response message comprises a consent indication allowing the network apparatus () to provide the subscribed event information to the nwdaf ().
