USER TERMINAL DEVICE AND DISPLAYING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240103693 titled 'USER TERMINAL DEVICE AND DISPLAYING METHOD THEREOF
Simplified Explanation
The user terminal device described in the patent application includes a display that can be divided into two areas, a cover on the rear side of the display, a detector to detect user interactions on the display and cover, and a controller to control the detector based on the folding of the display and cover.
- Display can be divided into a first area and a second area.
- Cover is placed on the rear side of the display.
- Detector detects user interactions on the display and cover.
- Controller responds to the folding of the display and cover by controlling the detector to detect user interactions through different areas.
Potential Applications
The technology described in the patent application could be applied in:
- Foldable smartphones
- Foldable tablets
- Foldable laptops
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of efficiently detecting user interactions on foldable displays by utilizing the different areas created when the display is folded.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include:
- Enhanced user experience on foldable devices
- Improved functionality of foldable displays
- Increased versatility in user interactions
Potential Commercial Applications
The potential commercial applications of this technology could be seen in:
- Consumer electronics industry
- Mobile device manufacturers
- Tech companies developing foldable devices
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art for this technology could be the development of foldable displays in smartphones and tablets, where user interactions are detected based on the folding of the device.
What are the specific user interactions that can be detected through the exposed part of the second area?
Specific user interactions that can be detected through the exposed part of the second area include touch gestures, swipes, taps, and other touch-based inputs.
How does the controller differentiate between user interactions on the first area and the second area when the display is folded?
The controller differentiates between user interactions on the first area and the second area by analyzing the input signals received from the detector and determining the location of the interaction based on the folding of the display.
Original Abstract Submitted
a user terminal device and a controlling method thereof are provided. the user terminal device includes a display configured to be divided into a first area and a second area which is larger than the first area with reference to a folding line, a cover disposed on a rear side of the display, a detector configured to detect a user interaction on the display and the cover, and a controller configured to, in response to the display being folded along the folding line such that the first area and the second area face each other, control the detector to detect a user interaction through an exposure area, which is an exposed part of the second area, and the cover, and, in response to the display being folded such that the two parts of the cover face with each other with reference to the folding line, control the detector to detect a user interaction through the first area and the second area.
