disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. in an aspect, a method of wireless communication performed by a transmission/reception point (trp) includes transmitting, at a first time and to a receiving entity, a first beam response report that describes, using a first level of granularity, beam responses of a set of positioning resources, each positioning resource to be transmitted by the trp at different times using different beams; transmitting, at a second time and to the receiving entity, a second beam response report that describes, using a second level of granularity different from the first level of granularity, beam responses of at least a portion of the set of positioning resources; and transmitting the set of positioning resources using the different beams. the trp may receive positioning information from the receiving entity, the positioning information comprising measurements of at least some of the positioning resources, a positioning estimate, or combinations thereof.
