TECHNIQUES FOR DYNAMICALLY ADJUSTING RETRANSMISSION OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN A CONNECTED ISOCHRONOUS STREAM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240097824 titled 'TECHNIQUES FOR DYNAMICALLY ADJUSTING RETRANSMISSION OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN A CONNECTED ISOCHRONOUS STREAM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for dynamically adjusting retransmission opportunities within a connected isochronous stream (CIS).

  • First wireless device and second wireless device support dynamic adjustments to CIS settings based on link quality.
  • Number of transmission opportunities for retransmissions within an isochronous interval is tied to link quality.
  • Link quality is associated with modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of the link.
  • Dynamic change in MCS is tied to a dynamic change in retransmission opportunities.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Real-time audio and video streaming
  • Industrial automation

Problems Solved

  • Improving reliability of wireless communication
  • Optimizing retransmission opportunities in isochronous streams

Benefits

  • Enhanced performance in wireless networks
  • Increased data transmission efficiency
  • Better quality of service for real-time applications

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimized retransmission techniques in wireless communication systems

Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to dynamic adjustment of retransmission opportunities based on link quality in wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

methods, systems, and devices for techniques for dynamically adjusting retransmission opportunities within a connected isochronous stream (cis) are described. in some aspects, a first wireless device and a second wireless device may support one or more dynamic or “on-the-fly” adjustments to one or more cis settings in accordance with a link quality between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. for example, the first wireless device and the second wireless device may tie a number of transmission opportunities that are usable for retransmissions, within a given isochronous (iso) interval, to the link quality between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. the link quality may be tied or associated with a modulation and coding scheme (mcs) of the link. as such, the first wireless device and the second wireless device may tie a dynamic change in mcs to a dynamic change in retransmission opportunities.
