NETWORK TOPOLOGY DISPLAY METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240097995 titled 'NETWORK TOPOLOGY DISPLAY METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a method and apparatus for displaying network topologies to improve network management and control system visualization.
- The communication apparatus obtains a multi-level subnet topology structure.
- Determines subnet density of a network element based on user layout settings.
- Determines current scale based on user zoom operation.
- Expands subnet of network element if product of scale and subnet density is greater than preset value.
Potential Applications
This technology can be applied in various industries such as telecommunications, IT, and data centers for efficient network management and control.
Problems Solved
1. Improved availability and visualization of network management systems. 2. Enhanced control over network elements based on user preferences and zoom operations.
Benefits
1. Increased efficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting. 2. Customizable network visualization for better decision-making. 3. Scalable network topology display for large-scale networks.
Potential Commercial Applications
Optimizing network management systems for telecommunications companies. Enhancing data center network visualization tools for IT companies.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be network visualization tools that provide basic topology display but lack the dynamic scaling and density adjustment features described in this patent application.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology handle security concerns in network visualization?
The article does not address how the communication apparatus ensures secure access to network topology information and prevents unauthorized users from manipulating the displayed data.
What are the limitations of this technology in terms of network size and complexity?
The article does not discuss the scalability of this method for extremely large or complex networks, and whether there are any performance issues that may arise in such cases.
Original Abstract Submitted
embodiments of this application disclose a network topology display method and a communication apparatus, to improve availability and a visualization effect of a network management and control system. the method in embodiments of this application includes: a communication apparatus obtains a multi-level subnet topology structure, determines a subnet density of a first network element based on a layout setting of a user for a physical position of a subnet of the first network element in the multi-level subnet topology structure, and then determines a current scale based on a zoom operation performed by the user on a display area; and when a product of the scale and the subnet density is greater than a preset value, the communication apparatus expands the subnet of the first network element.
