AREA MONITORING SYSTEM AND AREA MONITORING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240112575 titled 'AREA MONITORING SYSTEM AND AREA MONITORING METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an area monitoring system that uses a combination of sensor devices to detect and track mobile objects in a monitoring target area. The system includes a determiner that analyzes the detection results from the sensor devices to determine if the detected mobile objects are the same physical object.

  • The system includes multiple sensor devices, such as a radio wave sensor and an optical sensor, to detect mobile objects in the monitoring target area.
  • The determiner uses information on feature quantities of the mobile objects' movements and reflection intensities corresponding to their attributes to determine if the objects detected by the sensor devices are the same physical object.

Potential Applications

The technology described in the patent application could be applied in various fields such as:

  • Security systems
  • Traffic monitoring
  • Retail analytics

Problems Solved

The technology addresses the following issues:

  • Accurate tracking and identification of mobile objects in a monitoring area
  • Reduction of false alarms and errors in object detection

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Improved security and surveillance capabilities
  • Enhanced data collection and analysis for better decision-making
  • Increased efficiency in monitoring and tracking mobile objects

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology could be commercially applied in:

  • Smart home security systems
  • Retail stores for customer tracking and behavior analysis
  • Industrial facilities for inventory management and asset tracking

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be the use of similar sensor devices in surveillance systems or automated tracking systems in industrial settings.

Unanswered Questions

How does the system handle occlusions or overlapping of mobile objects in the monitoring area?

The patent application does not provide details on how the system deals with situations where mobile objects overlap or are partially obscured from the sensors.

What is the range and accuracy of the sensor devices used in the system?

The patent application does not specify the range and accuracy of the radio wave sensor and optical sensor used in the area monitoring system.

Original Abstract Submitted

area monitoring system includes a plurality of sensor devices each installed in a monitoring target area and configured to detect a mobile object moving in the monitoring target area and a determiner configured to determine whether or not mobile objects detected by the plurality of sensor devices are the same physical object on the basis of detection results of the plurality of sensor devices. the plurality of sensor devices include at least a radio wave sensor and an optical sensor. the determiner determines whether or not mobile objects detected by the radio wave sensor and the optical sensor are the same physical object on the basis of information of at least one of feature quantities regarding movements of the mobile objects and reflection intensities corresponding to attributes of the mobile objects when the mobile objects have been detected by the radio wave sensor and the optical sensor.
