IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM STORING IMAGE PROCESSING PROGRAM, AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240104716 titled 'IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM STORING IMAGE PROCESSING PROGRAM, AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The image processing apparatus described in the patent application is designed to detect differences between pre-printing scanned image data and post-printing scanned image data in order to ensure accurate printing results. Here is a simplified explanation of the patent application:

  • The processor specifies a pre-processing area in the pre-printing scanned image data, which includes an image corresponding to the image or pattern on the processing medium.
  • It compares the post-printing scanned image data with the print image data and determines if there is a difference based on a set determination condition.
  • The determination condition for the pre-processing area is set to make it difficult to detect differences compared to other areas.
      1. Potential Applications

- Quality control in printing processes - Forensic analysis of printed documents

      1. Problems Solved

- Ensuring accurate printing results - Detecting any discrepancies between pre-printing and post-printing images

      1. Benefits

- Improved print quality - Enhanced security features in printed materials

      1. Potential Commercial Applications
        1. Enhanced Printing Quality Assurance in Image Processing Technology
      1. Possible Prior Art

There may be prior art related to image processing techniques for quality control in printing processes, but specific examples are not provided in the patent application.

      1. Unanswered Questions
        1. How does the processor determine the specific determination condition for the pre-processing area?

The patent application does not provide detailed information on how the determination condition is set for the pre-processing area.

        1. What types of patterns or images can be detected by the image processing apparatus?

The patent application does not specify the range or complexity of patterns or images that can be detected by the apparatus.

Original Abstract Submitted

an image processing apparatus includes a processor configured to: specify, as a pre-processing area, a coordinate area in pre-printing scanned image data obtained by scanning a processing medium on which an image is printed or a pattern is applied in advance and on which print image data according to a print request is not printed, the coordinate area including an image corresponding to the image or the pattern; compare post-printing scanned image data obtained by scanning the processing medium on which the print image data is printed with the print image data, and determine that there is a difference between the post-printing scanned image data and the print image data in a case where a comparison result satisfies a determination condition; and set the determination condition for the pre-processing area such that it is difficult to determine that there is a difference between the post-printing scanned image data and the print image data compared to the determination condition for an area other than the pre-processing area.
