INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS CONTROLLING PRINTER, CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR, AND STORAGE MEDIUM STORING CONTROL PROGRAM THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240134577 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS CONTROLLING PRINTER, CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR, AND STORAGE MEDIUM STORING CONTROL PROGRAM THEREFOR
Simplified Explanation
The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus that can switch the discharge manner of a one-page print job in a printer in a two-sided print setting.
- The information processing apparatus controls a printer capable of printing on a sheet-shaped recording medium.
- The setting unit in the apparatus sets a print setting for a first print process as either a two-sided print setting or a one-sided print setting.
- The controller determines whether to discharge a recording medium printed by the first print process in a face-up manner or a face-down manner based on the print settings and the pages being printed.
Potential Applications
This technology can be applied in office settings, printing businesses, and any environment where two-sided printing is common.
Problems Solved
This innovation solves the issue of determining the discharge manner of a one-page print job in a two-sided print setting, providing more flexibility and efficiency in printing processes.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include improved control over print settings, reduced errors in printing, and enhanced user experience with the printer.
Potential Commercial Applications
Potential commercial applications of this technology include printers, multifunction devices, and printing software solutions for businesses and individuals.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art for this technology could be printers with manual settings for two-sided printing but without the capability to automatically adjust the discharge manner based on the print settings.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology impact printing speed?
This article does not provide information on how the innovation affects the printing speed of the printer. It would be interesting to know if there are any speed improvements or delays associated with this technology.
What are the energy consumption implications of this technology?

Original Abstract Submitted
the present invention provides an information processing apparatus capable of switching a discharge manner of a one-page print job in a printer in a two-sided print setting. an information processing apparatus controls a printer capable of printing on a sheet-shaped recording medium. the apparatus includes a setting unit that sets, as a print setting for a first print process, a two-sided print setting or a one-sided print setting, and a controller that controls whether to execute control for discharging a recording medium printed by the first print process in a face-up manner or a face-down manner based on at least one of whether the two-sided print setting is set for a second print process executed before the first print process and whether the second print process is for printing pages, when the two-sided print setting is set for the first print process that prints one page.
