SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCEMENT ON SIDELINK POWER CONTROL - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240114484 titled 'SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCEMENT ON SIDELINK POWER CONTROL
Simplified Explanation
The patent application discusses systems and methods for sidelink (SL) power control within wireless communication systems. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:
- User equipment (UE) selects a parameter set to calculate transmit power for channels in an SL session with a peer UE based on distance.
- The UE determines whether to use an SL pathloss-based calculation for transmit power based on distance.
- UE selects the number of physical SL feedback channel (PSFCH) transmissions based on capability and decides whether to perform PSFCH reception or transmission.
Potential Applications
- Wireless communication systems
- Peer-to-peer communication
- Power control in wireless networks
Problems Solved
- Ensuring optimal power control in SL communication
- Efficient use of resources based on distance between UEs
- Matching UE capabilities for feedback channel transmissions
Benefits
- Improved reliability and efficiency in SL communication
- Enhanced network performance
- Better utilization of available resources
Potential Commercial Applications
Optimizing Power Control in Wireless Communication Systems
Possible Prior Art
No prior art information is provided.
Unanswered Questions

The patent application does not specifically address the impact of this technology on battery life in UEs. It would be interesting to know if the power control mechanisms discussed have any implications for battery consumption.
The patent application does not delve into security aspects related to PSFCH transmissions. It would be important to understand if there are any vulnerabilities or risks associated with this aspect of the technology.
Original Abstract Submitted
systems and methods for sidelink (sl) power control within wireless communication systems are disclosed herein. a user equipment (ue) selects a parameter set to use to calculate a transmit power of one or more channels to be transmitted according to an sl session with a peer ue from a plurality of parameter sets each configured for use according to a distance between the ue and the peer ue. a ue determines whether an sl pathloss based calculation is to be used to calculate a transmit power of a channel according to an sl session with a peer ue, wherein that calculation is configured to be used depending on a distance between the ue and the peer ue. ue selection of a number of physical sl feedback channel (psfch) transmissions to match a ue capability and determinations regarding whether to perform psfch reception or psfch transmission are also discussed.
