RESOURCE ALLOCATION IN RADIO COMMUNICATIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240057042 titled 'RESOURCE ALLOCATION IN RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a radio transmitter operating according to a specific OFDM radio protocol, where it reserves a set of time-frequency resource units within a timeslot for an OFDM data channel and transmits data indicative of both the allocated and reserved sets of resource units.

  • The transmitter operates based on a predetermined OFDM radio protocol.
  • It reserves a set of time-frequency resource units within a timeslot for an OFDM data channel.
  • The transmitter allocates another set of resource units for the data channel within the same timeslot.
  • The allocated set includes some resource units that are also part of the reserved set.
  • The transmitter then transmits data representing both the allocated and reserved sets of resource units.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Mobile communication networks

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient allocation of time-frequency resource units for data transmission
  • Optimization of data channel usage within a timeslot

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved data transmission efficiency
  • Enhanced utilization of available resources
  • Increased reliability in communication systems

Original Abstract Submitted

a radio transmitter is configured to operate in accordance with a first predetermined ofdm radio protocol. the transmitter reserves, within a timeslot with a predetermined timeslot duration, a reserved set of time-frequency resource units not available for an ofdm data channel defined by the first protocol. the transmitter allocates, within the timeslot, an allocated set of r time-frequency resource units for the ofdm data channel defined by the first protocol, wherein a number m of time-frequency resource units are included in both the allocated set and the reserved set, wherein the value r is such that r>n and r−m≤n, where n is a predetermined maximum number of time-frequency resource units that can be used to carry the data channel. the transmitter then transmits data indicative of the allocated set of r time-frequency resource units and data indicative of the reserved set of time-frequency resource units.
