SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR ENHANCED PORTAL SYSTEMS IN AUGMENTED REALITY VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240054737 titled 'SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR ENHANCED PORTAL SYSTEMS IN AUGMENTED REALITY VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an augmented reality method for enabling portal functionality in a multi-dimensional fabric user interface. The method involves creating a simulated space in the user interface, calculating a virtual representation of the physical space using captured images and measurements, placing the virtual representation into the simulated space, creating an initial portal that connects to the virtual representation, allowing users to access the portal and enter the virtual representation of the physical space, and enabling users to interact with virtual objects in the virtual representation.

  • The method involves creating a simulated space in a multi-dimensional fabric user interface.
  • Captured images and measurements are used to calculate a virtual representation of the physical space.
  • The virtual representation of the physical space is placed into the simulated space.
  • An initial portal is created in the user interface, connecting to the virtual representation.
  • Users can access the portal and enter the virtual representation of the physical space.
  • Users are able to interact with virtual objects within the virtual representation.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Virtual tours of real-world locations.
  • Remote collaboration and communication in a shared virtual space.
  • Virtual training and simulations for various industries.
  • Gaming and entertainment experiences in augmented reality.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a seamless integration of virtual and physical spaces.
  • Enables users to access and interact with virtual representations of physical spaces.
  • Enhances user experience and immersion in augmented reality environments.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Allows for exploration and interaction with virtual objects in a realistic manner.
  • Facilitates remote collaboration and communication in a shared virtual space.
  • Provides a versatile platform for various applications, including training and entertainment.

Original Abstract Submitted

an augmented reality method for enabling portal functionality in a multi-dimensional fabric user interface is described herein. the method includes: creating a simulated space in the multi-dimensional fabric user interface; calculating a virtual representation of the physical space using the captured images and measurements; placing the virtual representation of the physical space into the simulated space; creating an initial portal in the multi-dimensional fabric user interface that connects to the virtual representation of the physical space in the simulated space; enabling one or more users to access the portal in the multi-dimensional fabric user interface to enter the virtual representation of the physical space in the simulated space; and enabling the one or more users to interact with virtual objects in the virtual representation of the physical space in the simulated space.
