FENCE AND STOP ASSEMBLY SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240051175 titled 'FENCE AND STOP ASSEMBLY SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for engaging a workpiece with a stop portion using a stop assembly. The method involves providing a first portion and a stop portion of the stop assembly, as well as a fine adjustment assembly. The fine adjustment assembly includes a set screw and an adjustment wheel, both engaged with the first portion and the stop portion. The first portion is then placed inside a track of a tool, and the stop portion is pivoted about a pivot axis defined by a pivot shaft of the stop assembly to an engaged position.

  • The patent describes a method for engaging a workpiece with a stop portion using a stop assembly.
  • The method involves providing a first portion and a stop portion of the stop assembly.
  • A fine adjustment assembly is included in the stop assembly, which consists of a set screw and an adjustment wheel.
  • The set screw and adjustment wheel are operably engaged with the first portion and the stop portion.
  • The adjustment wheel is completely housed inside a second portion of the stop assembly, which is pivotably engaged with the stop portion.
  • The first portion is engaged inside a track of a tool.
  • The stop portion is pivoted about a pivot axis defined by a pivot shaft of the stop assembly to an engaged position, moving in a rotational direction towards the first portion.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Manufacturing and machining processes where precise positioning of workpieces is required.
  • Woodworking and metalworking industries where accurate cuts and measurements are essential.
  • Assembly lines and production facilities where consistent and repeatable positioning of components is necessary.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a reliable and adjustable stop assembly for engaging workpieces, ensuring accurate positioning.
  • Allows for fine adjustments using the set screw and adjustment wheel, enabling precise alignment.
  • The pivotable engagement of the stop portion allows for flexibility in positioning and engagement with different workpieces.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved accuracy and precision in workpiece positioning, leading to higher quality products.
  • Time and cost savings by reducing the need for manual adjustments and repositioning.
  • Increased efficiency and productivity in manufacturing and machining processes.
  • Versatility in accommodating different workpiece sizes and shapes.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method for releaseably engaging a workpiece with the stop portion. the method comprises steps of: providing a first portion of a stop assembly; providing a stop portion of the stop assembly; providing a fine adjustment assembly of the stop assembly, wherein the fine adjustment assembly comprises at least: a set screw operably engaged with the first portion and the stop portion, an adjustment wheel operably engaged with the set screw and completely housed inside of a second portion of the stop assembly that is pivotable engaged with the stop portion; engaging the first portion inside of a track of a tool; and pivoting the stop portion, about a pivot axis defined by a pivot shaft of the stop assembly, to an engaged position such that the stop portion moves in a rotational direction toward the first portion of the stop assembly.
