DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240046882 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure relates to a display device that includes a display panel with multiple sub-pixels connected to scan lines. The device also includes a gate driver that supplies a scan signal to the scan lines, a timing controller that outputs start signals to the gate driver, and a start control circuit connected between the timing controller and the gate driver.

  • The gate driver supplies a scan signal to the scan lines of the display panel.
  • The timing controller outputs start signals to the gate driver.
  • The start control circuit is connected between the timing controller and the gate driver.
  • When at least two start signals are a gate turn-on voltage of a pixel transistor, the start control circuit stops outputting the start signals.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Display devices such as televisions, computer monitors, and smartphones.
  • Electronic devices with touchscreens, such as tablets and interactive displays.
  • Virtual reality and augmented reality headsets.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Improves the efficiency and performance of the display device.
  • Reduces power consumption and extends battery life in portable devices.
  • Enhances image quality and reduces motion blur in fast-moving scenes.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Faster response times and smoother image transitions.
  • Improved color accuracy and contrast ratio.
  • Lower power consumption and longer battery life.
  • Enhanced user experience in various applications.

Original Abstract Submitted

according to an aspect of the present disclosure, a display device includes a display panel in which a plurality of sub pixels connected to a plurality of scan lines is defined, a gate driver which supplies a scan signal to the plurality of scan lines, a timing controller which outputs a plurality of start signals to the gate driver, and a start control circuit connected between the timing controller and the gate driver. when at least two start signals, among the plurality of start signals, are a gate turn-on voltage of a pixel transistor to which the scan signal is supplied, the start control circuit stops outputting the plurality of start signals.
