CLOTHES TREATMENT APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240044067 titled 'CLOTHES TREATMENT APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR

Simplified Explanation

The clothes treatment apparatus described in the patent application is a device that directly heats a drum used for drying clothes. The apparatus consists of a tub, a metal drum that can rotate inside the tub and accommodate clothes, and an induction module placed in the tub to generate an electromagnetic field for heating the drum's surface. The induction module includes a coil that generates a magnetic field when an electric current is applied to it, and a base housing mounted on the outer surface of the tub. The base housing has a coil slot that defines the shape of the coil and allows the wire to be mounted with a predetermined distance between wire and wire.

  • The clothes treatment apparatus directly heats a drum to dry clothes.
  • The drum is made of metal and can rotate inside a tub.
  • An induction module is placed in the tub to generate an electromagnetic field for heating the drum's surface.
  • The induction module includes a coil that generates a magnetic field when electric current is applied.
  • The base housing of the induction module is mounted on the outer surface of the tub.
  • The base housing has a coil slot that defines the shape of the coil and allows the wire to be mounted with a predetermined distance between wire and wire.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Efficient and fast drying of clothes in household dryers.
  • Industrial laundry facilities for quick and effective clothes drying.
  • Commercial dry cleaning services for faster turnaround times.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Eliminates the need for traditional heating elements in clothes dryers, reducing energy consumption.
  • Provides more even and consistent heat distribution throughout the drum, resulting in better drying performance.
  • Reduces the risk of clothes being damaged or overheated during the drying process.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Faster drying times, saving time and energy.
  • Improved drying performance, ensuring clothes are thoroughly dried.
  • Enhanced safety features, reducing the risk of clothes damage or overheating.
  • Energy-efficient operation, reducing electricity consumption.

Original Abstract Submitted

a clothes treatment apparatus directly heats a drum accommodating clothes. the clothes treatment apparatus includes: a tub; a drum, made of a metal, which accommodates clothes and is rotatably provided inside the tub; and an induction module, provided in the tub so as to have a spacing from a circumferential surface of the drum, for generating an electromagnetic field to heat the circumferential surface of the drum. the induction module includes: a coil which is formed by winding a wire such that electric current is applied thereto to generate a magnetic field; and a base housing mounted on an outer circumferential surface of the tub, wherein the base housing is provided with a coil slot for defining the shape of the coil in such a manner that the wire is mounted therein so as to have a predetermined distance between wire and wire.
