CAP FOR A CONTAINER, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A CAP - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240043181 titled 'CAP FOR A CONTAINER, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A CAP

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for producing a cap for a container that includes a retaining ring and a closure element. The method involves providing a cup-shaped body with a side wall and an end wall, and cutting the side wall along a separation line to define the retaining ring and the closure element. During the cutting step, at least one connection band is left intact, connecting the retaining ring to the closure element. Additionally, at least one delimitation line is produced to laterally delimit the connection band.

  • The method involves producing a cap for a container with a retaining ring and a closure element.
  • A cup-shaped body is provided, with a side wall and an end wall.
  • The side wall is cut along a separation line to define the retaining ring and the closure element.
  • The cutting step leaves at least one connection band intact, connecting the retaining ring to the closure element.
  • At least one delimitation line is produced to laterally delimit the connection band.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Packaging industry: The method can be used to produce caps for various types of containers, such as bottles, jars, or tubes.
  • Food and beverage industry: The caps can be used to seal containers for food and beverage products, ensuring freshness and preventing contamination.
  • Pharmaceutical industry: The method can be applied to produce caps for medicine bottles, ensuring proper sealing and tamper-evident features.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Secure closure: The method provides a cap design that securely closes the container, preventing leakage or spillage.
  • Tamper-evident feature: The intact connection band serves as a tamper-evident feature, indicating if the cap has been opened or tampered with.
  • Simplified production process: The method simplifies the production process of caps by cutting the side wall to define the retaining ring and closure element.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved product protection: The cap design ensures the container's contents are protected from external factors, such as air, moisture, or contaminants.
  • Enhanced user experience: The closure element allows for easy opening and closing of the container, providing convenience to the users.
  • Cost-effective production: The method simplifies the production process, potentially reducing manufacturing costs for cap production.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method for producing a cap for a container wherein the cap includes a retaining ring suitable for being associated with a neck of the container and a closure element hinged to the retaining ring for opening or closing an opening defined by the neck of the container. the method includes providing a cup-shaped body having a side wall extending about an axis and an end wall extending transversely to the axis, and cutting the side wall along a separation line for defining the retaining ring and the closure element such that during the cutting step there is interacting with the material forming the side wall along an angular extension of the side wall about the axis as to leave intact at least one connection band which connects the retaining ring to the closure element, and producing at least one delimitation line which laterally delimits the connection band.
