disclosed herein is a kitchen appliance. the kitchen appliance includes: a body including a motor and a control unit controlling the motor; a container coupled to the body, the container including a receiving chamber defining a space for receiving ingredients to be processed and a processing member disposed in the space and processing the ingredients in the space using power from the motor; an enclosure having a closed position in which the enclosure covers at least a portion of the receiving chamber and an open position resulting from movement of at least a portion of the enclosure from the closed position with respect to the receiving chamber; an enclosure actuator shifting the enclosure between the open position and the closed position; and a controller controlling the enclosure actuator based on a current state of the motor.
