SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING A CRISIS SITUATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240029534 titled 'SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING A CRISIS SITUATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method performed by a user device to manage a crisis situation of a user. The method involves obtaining the user's profile and real-time location. It also includes obtaining multiple measurements associated with the user from measurement units of the user device. The method further determines if any of the measurements exceed predefined threshold values. If they do, the method calculates the probability of the crisis situation and determines the type of crisis situation. Based on the probability, type of crisis situation, and user's location, the method activates one or more mitigation steps.

  • The method obtains the user's profile and real-time location.
  • It collects multiple measurements from the user device's measurement units.
  • The method checks if any of the measurements exceed predefined threshold values.
  • If the measurements exceed the thresholds, the method calculates the probability of a crisis situation.
  • It determines the type of crisis situation based on the calculated probability.
  • The method activates mitigation steps based on the probability, type of crisis situation, and user's location.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Crisis management systems for individuals in emergency situations.
  • Personal safety applications that monitor and respond to potential threats.
  • Healthcare monitoring systems that detect critical health conditions and trigger appropriate actions.
  • Disaster response systems that track and assist individuals in crisis situations.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides real-time monitoring and response to crisis situations.
  • Helps individuals in distress by automatically activating appropriate mitigation steps.
  • Enhances personal safety and security by detecting and responding to potential threats.
  • Improves emergency response by providing accurate location information and crisis type identification.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Increases the chances of timely assistance and intervention during crisis situations.
  • Reduces response time and improves the effectiveness of emergency services.
  • Enhances personal safety and peace of mind for individuals.
  • Enables proactive monitoring and management of health conditions.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method, performed by a user device, to manage a crisis situation of a user is provided. the method includes obtaining a profile of the user and a real-time location of the user. the method further includes obtaining a plurality of measurements associated with the user from a plurality of measurement units of the user device. furthermore, the method includes determining whether one or more of the plurality of measurements exceed respective first predefined threshold values. when the one or more measurements exceed the respective first predefined threshold values, the method includes calculating a probability of the crisis situation. responsive to calculating the probability, the method includes determining a type of the crisis situation. additionally, the method includes actuating one or more mitigation steps, based on the probability, the type of the crisis situation, and the real-time location of the user.
