METHOD FOR ASSESSING WORKLOAD IN AN ORGANIZATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240028984 titled 'METHOD FOR ASSESSING WORKLOAD IN AN ORGANIZATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for assessing workload in an organization using a database system. Here is a simplified explanation of the patent application:

  • The method involves storing work entries in a database system, which represent the work that can be done by workers in relation to different matters.
  • When assessing the workload for a selected matter, the relevant work entries associated with that matter are retrieved from the database system.
  • Based on a selected work measurement ruleset (wmr), ruleset-assessed entries are generated for the relevant work entries. These ruleset-assessed entries include data such as the selected matter, type of work, a rule-defined value based on the wmr, and the worker.
  • The ruleset-assessed entries are stored separately from the original work entries in the database system.

Potential Applications:

  • Workload assessment and management in organizations.
  • Resource allocation and planning based on workload analysis.
  • Performance evaluation and incentive systems based on workload data.

Problems Solved:

  • Difficulty in assessing and managing workload in organizations.
  • Lack of a systematic approach to measure and evaluate work performed.
  • Inefficient resource allocation and planning.

Benefits:

  • Improved workload assessment and management.
  • Better resource allocation and planning.
  • Enhanced performance evaluation and incentive systems.
  • Increased efficiency and productivity in organizations.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method for assessing workload in an organization comprises the steps of (i) providing, in a database system, work entries representative of work performable by one or more workers in relation to one or more matters; (ii) retrieving, from the database system, respective work entries associated with a selected matter for which workload is to be assessed; (iii) based on a selected one of plural work measurement rulesets (wmr), generating respective ruleset-assessed entries for relevant work entries of the selected matter, which have the types of work identified in the selected wmr, and each ruleset-assessed entry including data representative of the selected matter, the type of work, a rule-defined value based on a corresponding rule of the wmr, and the worker; and (iv) storing the ruleset-assessed entries in the database system distinctly from the work entries.
