ARRANGEMENT FOR OPERATING A HYDRAULIC CONSUMER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240026908 titled 'ARRANGEMENT FOR OPERATING A HYDRAULIC CONSUMER

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an arrangement for operating a hydraulic consumer, such as a hydraulic machine or system. It includes a hydraulic control valve with a main slide valve that controls the hydraulic volume flow in the direction of hydraulic connections for the consumer. The arrangement also includes a pressure compensation valve and an orifice plate. The pressure compensation valve is controlled based on the pressure difference that occurs at the orifice plate when the volume flow passes through it. When the hydraulic pressure upstream of the orifice plate is greater than downstream, the pressure compensation valve partially closes to regulate the pressure. A restoring spring force from a spring element keeps the pressure compensation valve in a fully open position. A sensor arrangement senses the pressure difference and transmits the derived pressure difference value to a control unit for evaluation.

  • The arrangement operates a hydraulic consumer by controlling the hydraulic volume flow.
  • The pressure compensation valve regulates the pressure based on the pressure difference at the orifice plate.
  • The restoring spring force keeps the pressure compensation valve in a fully open position.
  • The sensor arrangement measures the pressure difference and sends the value to a control unit for evaluation.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Hydraulic systems in industrial machinery, such as construction equipment or manufacturing machines.
  • Hydraulic systems in vehicles, such as cars, trucks, or agricultural machinery.
  • Hydraulic systems in aerospace applications, such as aircraft or spacecraft.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensures proper regulation of hydraulic pressure for the consumer.
  • Prevents excessive pressure differences that can damage the system or affect performance.
  • Provides a reliable and efficient control mechanism for hydraulic systems.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved safety and reliability of hydraulic systems.
  • Enhanced performance and efficiency of hydraulic consumers.
  • Simplified control and maintenance of hydraulic systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

an arrangement for operating a hydraulic consumer including a hydraulic control valve having a main slide valve defining a hydraulic volume flow in the direction of hydraulic connections provided for operation of the hydraulic consumer, a pressure compensation valve and an orifice plate, the pressure compensation valve controlled on the basis of a pressure difference that drops at the orifice plate when the volume flow passes through, such that the pressure compensation valve adopts an at least partially closing control position when the hydraulic pressure upstream of the orifice plate in the direction of the volume flow is greater than downstream of the orifice plate, including a restoring spring force of a spring element preloading the pressure compensation valve into a fully open position, and a sensor arrangement sensing the pressure difference and transmitting a pressure difference value derived therefrom to a control unit evaluating the pressure difference value.
