AUGMENTED REALITY SYSTEM FOR SUPPLY CHAIN OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240020626 titled 'AUGMENTED REALITY SYSTEM FOR SUPPLY CHAIN OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENTS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an augmented reality (AR) system that includes multiple Internet of Things (IoT) tags coupled to inventory items in a supply chain operating environment. The system also includes at least one remote processor and an AR headset that communicates with the IoT tags and remote processor(s). The AR headset receives information from the IoT tags, transmits it to the remote processor(s), receives second information from the remote processor(s), displays a portion of the second information on a display, and transmits video or images of the AR headset's field of view to the remote processor(s).

  • The AR system includes IoT tags coupled to inventory items in a supply chain operating environment.
  • The system has a remote processor(s) and an AR headset that communicates with the IoT tags and remote processor(s).
  • The AR headset receives information from the IoT tags and transmits it to the remote processor(s).
  • It also receives second information from the remote processor(s) and displays a portion of it on a display.
  • The AR headset transmits video or images of its field of view to the remote processor(s).

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Inventory management in supply chain operations
  • Real-time tracking and monitoring of inventory items
  • Enhanced visualization and information display for supply chain workers

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Manual inventory tracking and management can be time-consuming and prone to errors. The AR system automates and streamlines these processes.
  • Lack of real-time visibility into inventory items and their locations is addressed by the IoT tags and AR headset.
  • Information overload and inefficient communication within the supply chain can be improved through the display and transmission capabilities of the AR system.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved accuracy and efficiency in inventory management
  • Real-time tracking and monitoring of inventory items, leading to better supply chain visibility
  • Enhanced worker productivity and decision-making through visual information display
  • Potential cost savings by reducing manual labor and minimizing inventory discrepancies.

Original Abstract Submitted

an augmented reality (ar) system may be provided. the ar system may include multiple internet of things (iot) tags, each iot tag being coupled to an inventory item, each inventory item located in a supply chain operating environment. the ar system may include at least one remote processor, and an ar headset configured to communicate with the iot tags and the remote processor(s). the ar headset may be configured to receive a first transmission of first information from at least one iot tag, transmit a second transmission comprising the first information to the remote processor(s), receive a third transmission comprising second information from the remote processor(s), display at least a portion of the second information on a display coupled to a frame of the ar headset, and transmit fourth information comprising video or images of a field of view of the ar headset to the at least one remote processor.
