Female Connector and Connector Assembly Comprising Same - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240019063 titled 'Female Connector and Connector Assembly Comprising Same

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure is about a female connector that includes a housing, a retaining clamp, and an indicating clamp. The housing has a channel and a housing window. The retaining clamp is placed around the housing and can partially enter the channel through the housing window to secure the female connector with a male connector. The indicating clamp is locked to the retaining clamp and the housing, and it is released when the male connector is secured in position in the female connector.

  • The female connector has a housing with a channel and a housing window.
  • A retaining clamp is placed around the housing and can enter the channel through the housing window.
  • The retaining clamp secures the female connector with a male connector.
  • An indicating clamp is locked to the retaining clamp and the housing.
  • The indicating clamp is released when the male connector is secured in position.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Electrical connectors in various industries such as automotive, aerospace, and electronics.
  • Medical devices that require secure connections.
  • Industrial equipment that needs reliable connectors.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensures a secure connection between male and female connectors.
  • Provides a visual indication of whether the male connector is secured or not.
  • Prevents accidental disconnection of the connectors.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved reliability and safety of electrical connections.
  • Easy visual confirmation of the connection status.
  • Prevents damage to equipment due to accidental disconnection.

Original Abstract Submitted

the present disclosure provides a female connector. the female connector comprises a housing, a retaining clamp and an indicating clamp. the housing defines therein a channel extending in an axial direction and is provided with a housing window. the retaining clamp is arranged around at least part of the housing and can at least partially enter the channel through the housing window to secure the female connector with a male connector. the indicating clamp is arranged around at least part of the retaining clamp and the housing, and is releasably locked to the retaining clamp. the indicating clamp is locked to the retaining clamp when the male connector is received by the female connector but not yet secured in position, and is released from the retaining clamp so as to be removable from the retaining clamp when the male connector is secured in position in the female connector.
