HEARING-AID AUDIO CONTROL METHOD AND SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240015448 titled 'HEARING-AID AUDIO CONTROL METHOD AND SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method and system for controlling audio in a hearing aid. The method involves obtaining a hearing compensation curve for a hearing-impaired person, receiving an original audio signal, and using the compensation curve to perform power compensation on the corresponding frequency band of the audio signal to obtain a hearing-aid audio signal. The hearing-aid audio signal can be outputted or used to drive the operation of an audio system.

  • The method uses a hearing compensation curve to adjust the power of specific frequency bands in the original audio signal.
  • By adjusting the volume of these frequency bands, the hearing-impaired person can hear the sound clearly without excessive volume adjustment or disturbing others.
  • The hearing-aid audio signal can be outputted or used to drive an audio system.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
  • Audio systems in public spaces, such as theaters or conference rooms, to provide personalized sound amplification for individuals with hearing impairments.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Difficulty for hearing-impaired individuals to hear sounds clearly without excessive volume adjustment.
  • Disturbance caused to others when hearing-impaired individuals need to increase the volume to compensate for their hearing loss.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved sound clarity for hearing-impaired individuals.
  • Enhanced user experience by allowing personalized adjustment of specific frequency bands.
  • Reduced disturbance to others by preventing excessive volume adjustment.

Original Abstract Submitted

a hearing-aid audio control method and system are disclosed. the method includes the steps of obtaining a hearing compensation curve of a hearing-impaired person in advance; receiving and obtaining an original audio signal; using the hearing compensation curve to perform power compensation on a corresponding frequency band of the original audio signal to obtain a hearing-aid audio signal; outputting the hearing-aid audio signal and/or using the hearing-aid audio signal to drive operation of an audio system. the method can use the hearing compensation curve of the hearing-impaired person to perform power compensation on the corresponding frequency band of the original audio signal to obtain the hearing-aid audio signal. by adjusting the volume of the corresponding audio frequency bands, the hearing-impaired can hear the sound clearly, without continuous hearing loss due to excessive volume adjustment and without disturbing other people.
