ELEMENTARY ANTENNA OF THE SLOT-FED PATCH TYPE AND ACTIVE ARRAY ANTENNA - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240014564 titled 'ELEMENTARY ANTENNA OF THE SLOT-FED PATCH TYPE AND ACTIVE ARRAY ANTENNA

Simplified Explanation

The abstract of the patent application describes an elementary antenna design that includes two cross-shaped slots defining four half-slots. Each half-slot is connected to a stripline via a via, and the striplines are connected to a plurality of ports on an integrated circuit. Tracks are provided for feeding the strips, with the first track running from a first port to the first via and the second track running from a second port to the second via. The first and second ports are connected differentially to a transmitter/receiver channel through power lines inside the integrated circuit. The lines and tracks are arranged to avoid crossing each other.

  • The patent application describes an elementary antenna design with cross-shaped slots and half-slots.
  • The antenna is connected to an integrated circuit that has multiple ports.
  • The half-slots are connected to the ports via striplines and vias.
  • Tracks are provided to feed the striplines, with each track connecting a port to a via.
  • The ports are connected differentially to a transmitter/receiver channel through power lines inside the integrated circuit.
  • The arrangement of lines and tracks ensures that there is no crossing of routes.

Potential Applications:

  • Wireless communication systems
  • Antenna designs for electronic devices
  • IoT devices
  • Radar systems

Problems Solved:

  • Provides a compact and efficient antenna design
  • Enables integration with an integrated circuit
  • Reduces interference and signal loss

Benefits:

  • Improved wireless communication performance
  • Compact size for integration into electronic devices
  • Reduced interference and signal loss
  • Cost-effective antenna design

Original Abstract Submitted

the elementary antenna includes: two cross-shaped slots defining four half-slots; for each half-slot, excitation striplines the first stripline being connected to a first via and the second stripline being connected to a second via an integrated circuit delivering a plurality of ports; for each half-slot, tracks for feeding the strips, the first track running from a first port to the first via and the second track running from a second port to the second via the first and second ports being two successive ports of the integrated circuit, differentially connected to a transmitter/receiver channel by first and second power lines situated inside the integrated circuit, the lines and tracks running so that there is no crossing of the respective routes thereof.
