CONFIGURATION FOR USER EQUIPMENT COOPERATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18546078 titled 'CONFIGURATION FOR USER EQUIPMENT COOPERATION

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications involving user equipment (UE) cooperating with a base station and another UE as a single entity. The UE cooperation configuration includes parameters associated with the second UE, allowing the first UE to identify an antenna panel for receiving downlink messages and respond accordingly.

  • Explanation:

- First UE receives active communication configuration from base station - First UE receives UE cooperation configuration with second UE - UE cooperation configuration includes parameters for communication between base station and antenna panels of both UEs - First UE selects antenna panel for downlink message reception - First UE transmits response message to base station or second UE

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in: - Wireless communication systems - Mobile networks - Internet of Things (IoT) devices

Problems Solved

- Improved communication efficiency between UEs and base stations - Enhanced coordination between multiple UEs for better signal reception

Benefits

- Increased data transmission reliability - Reduced interference in wireless networks - Enhanced overall network performance

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimized Wireless Communication Configuration for Enhanced Connectivity

Possible Prior Art

Prior art may include: - Cooperative communication systems in wireless networks - Antenna selection techniques for improving signal reception

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology impact battery life in UEs?

This article does not address the potential impact of this technology on the battery life of user equipment. It would be interesting to know if the increased coordination and communication efficiency have any effects on power consumption.

What are the security implications of UE cooperation configurations?

The abstract does not discuss the security aspects of UEs cooperating as a single entity. It would be important to understand how this configuration affects data privacy and network security.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a first user equipment (UE) may receive an active communication configuration between the first UE and a base station. The first UE may receive a UE cooperation configuration between at least the first UE and a second UE. The UE cooperation configuration may include a configuration for communicating messages between the base station and a set of antenna panels corresponding to at least the first UE and the second UE as a single entity. The UE cooperation configuration may include parameters associated with the second UE. The first UE may identify, from the set of antenna panels, an antenna panel for reception of a downlink message based on the UE cooperation configuration. The first UE may transmit a message to the base station, the second UE, or both in response to the downlink message.
