SELECTIVE CANCELLATION OF ON-DEMAND POSITIONING REFERENCE SIGNAL (PRS) OCCASIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18545854 titled 'SELECTIVE CANCELLATION OF ON-DEMAND POSITIONING REFERENCE SIGNAL (PRS) OCCASIONS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a technique for wireless communication where a user equipment (UE) receives a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration from a network entity, determines modifications needed for one or more PRS resources, and transmits PRS modification information back to the network entity.

  • User equipment (UE) receives a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration from a network entity.
  • UE determines modifications needed for one or more PRS resources.
  • UE transmits PRS modification information back to the network entity.
  • Network entity can be a location server or location management function.
  • PRS modification information may include a request to modify the PRS configuration and information indicating a start time, stop time, duration, or a combination thereof associated with modifying the PRS configuration.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed are various techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives, from a network entity, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration indicating one or more PRS resources. The UE determines that one or more transmission properties of the one or more resources should be modified and transmits PRS modification information to the network entity based on the one or more transmission properties of one or more PRS resources to be modified. The network entity may be a location server or location management function. The PRS modification information may include a request to modify the PRS configuration and information indicating a start time, a stop time, a duration, or a combination thereof, associated with modifying the PRS configuration.
