ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD FOR ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18539215 titled 'ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD FOR ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a method and apparatus for detecting and specifying the presence or absence of excrement in ultrasound images.
- An excrement information detection unit detects an excrement region in the ultrasound image.
- An excrement specifying unit determines the presence or absence of excrement based on the detection result.
- If excrement is present, an excrement information display unit highlights the excrement region on the monitor.
- If no excrement is detected within a certain period, a notification unit alerts the user to adjust the ultrasound probe positioning.
Potential Applications
This technology could be used in medical settings for more accurate and efficient diagnosis of gastrointestinal conditions.
Problems Solved
This technology helps in identifying excrement in ultrasound images, which can aid in diagnosing certain medical conditions.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include improved accuracy in diagnosing gastrointestinal issues and increased efficiency in ultrasound examinations.
Potential Commercial Applications
This technology could be applied in hospitals, clinics, and medical imaging centers to enhance the quality of ultrasound diagnostics.
Possible Prior Art
There may be prior art related to image processing algorithms for detecting specific features in medical imaging, but specific examples are not provided in the abstract.
Unanswered Questions

Original Abstract Submitted
To reliably specify the presence or absence of excrement from an ultrasound image. In an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus and a control method for an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus according to the present invention, an excrement information detection unit detects an excrement region from an ultrasound image, and an excrement specifying unit specifies the presence or absence of excrement based on a detection result of the excrement region. As a result, in a case where it is specified that excrement is present, an excrement information display unit highlight-displays the excrement region in the ultrasound image displayed on a monitor, and in a case where it is not specified that excrement is present within a predetermined period, a notification unit notifies a user of a message suggesting a change of an approach of an ultrasound probe during performing scanning.
