COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18526282 titled 'COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a communication method and apparatus where a terminal device determines channel state information based on S indexes of S vectors included in a first vector quantization dictionary. The terminal device sends this channel state information to a network device, allowing for high-precision feedback with relatively low signaling overheads.

  • Terminal device determines channel state information based on S indexes of S vectors in a first vector quantization dictionary
  • First vector quantization dictionary includes N vectors, where N and S are positive integers
  • Channel information is quantized by using the first vector quantization dictionary, maintaining a relatively high dimension
  • High-precision feedback is achieved with relatively low signaling overheads

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in wireless communication systems, MIMO systems, and other communication networks where high-precision feedback is required.

Original Abstract Submitted

A communication method and apparatus. A terminal device determines channel state information based on S indexes of S vectors. Each of the S vectors is included in a first vector quantization dictionary. The first vector quantization dictionary includes Nvectors, where Nand S are both positive integers. The terminal device sends the channel state information to a network device. Because a vector included in the vector quantization dictionary usually has a relatively large dimension, quantizing channel information by using the first vector quantization dictionary is equivalent to performing dimension expansion on the channel information or maintaining a relatively high dimension. High-precision feedback is implemented by using relatively low signaling overheads.
