GENERATING POWER WITH A CONDUIT INSPECTION TOOL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18523416 titled 'GENERATING POWER WITH A CONDUIT INSPECTION TOOL

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for operating a conduit inspection tool in a conduit, involving positioning the tool in the conduit, moving the tool through the conduit using wheels, generating electrical power through power generating sub-systems, and storing the generated power in an energy storage device.

  • The conduit inspection tool includes a body with wheels, power generating sub-systems, and an energy storage device.
  • The tool moves through the conduit by the rotation of the wheels.
  • Electrical power is generated by the movement of the tool.
  • The generated power is stored in the energy storage device for later use.

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in various industries for inspecting and monitoring the condition of conduits, such as in plumbing, electrical, or telecommunications systems.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in efficiently inspecting and maintaining conduits without the need for external power sources or manual labor, reducing costs and improving accuracy.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include increased efficiency in conduit inspection, reduced maintenance costs, and improved safety for workers.

Potential Commercial Applications

One potential commercial application of this technology could be in the field of infrastructure maintenance, where regular inspection of conduits is necessary to prevent failures and downtime.

Possible Prior Art

Prior art in this field may include similar conduit inspection tools with power generating capabilities, but this specific combination of features and functions may be novel.

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology compare to traditional conduit inspection methods?

This article does not provide a direct comparison between this technology and traditional methods of conduit inspection.

What are the limitations of this technology in terms of conduit size and material?

The article does not address any potential limitations of this technology in terms of the size or material of the conduits it can inspect.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method for operating a conduit inspection tool in a conduit includes positioning a conduit inspection tool in the conduit, the conduit inspection tool including a body that includes one or more wheels, at least two power generating sub-systems coupled to the body, and at least one energy storage device electrically coupled to the at least two power generating sub-systems; moving the body through and in contact with the conduit through the one or more wheels; generating electrical power by at least one of the at least two power generating sub-systems by the movement; and providing at least a portion of the generated electrical power to the at least one energy storage device to store the portion of the generated electrical power.
