FEEDBACK TECHNIQUES FOR MULTICAST AND UNICAST COMMUNICATIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18523272 titled 'FEEDBACK TECHNIQUES FOR MULTICAST AND UNICAST COMMUNICATIONS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications where a user equipment (UE) receives a feedback configuration from a base station for providing feedback for downlink communications. The UE determines if feedback processes have a multicast-only configuration for multicast data communications or a multicast-or-unicast configuration for either multicast or unicast data communications. Based on this configuration, the UE decodes transmissions, determines a feedback codebook, and monitors for retransmissions of multicast data communications.

  • User equipment (UE) receives feedback configuration from base station for downlink communications
  • UE determines if feedback processes have multicast-only or multicast-or-unicast configuration
  • UE decodes transmissions, determines feedback codebook, and monitors for retransmissions of multicast data communications

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may receive a feedback configuration for providing feedback for downlink communications from a base station. Based on the feedback configuration, the UE may determine whether one or more feedback processes has a multicast-only configuration for multicast data communications, or a multicast-or-unicast configuration for either multicast data communications or unicast data communications. The UE may decode one or more transmissions associated with the one or more feedback processes based on the multicast-only or multicast-or-unicast configuration, and may determine a feedback codebook based on the multicast-only or multicast-or-unicast configuration of the one or more feedback processes. The UE may monitor for retransmissions of one or more multicast data communications based on the feedback process configuration.
