STEP WIDTH MEASUREMENT DEVICE, MEASUREMENT SYSTEM, STEP WIDTH MEASUREMENTMETHOD, AND PROGRAM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18519396 titled 'STEP WIDTH MEASUREMENT DEVICE, MEASUREMENT SYSTEM, STEP WIDTH MEASUREMENTMETHOD, AND PROGRAM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a device for measuring step width using ultrasonic waves and sensor data from sensors mounted on the user's feet.

  • Distance calculation unit calculates the distance between the user's feet using ultrasonic transmission/reception data.
  • Height calculation unit determines the height of the sensor using spatial acceleration and angular velocity data from sensors on the user's feet.
  • Step width calculation unit computes the user's step width using the distance between the feet and the sensor height.

Original Abstract Submitted

A step width measurement device includes a distance calculation unit that calculates a distance between both feet of a user by using propagation data related to transmission/reception times of ultrasonic waves transmitted/received by ultrasonic transmission/reception devices mounted on each of the both feet of the user, a height calculation unit that calculates a height of a sensor by using sensor data including a spatial acceleration and a spatial angular velocity measured by sensors mounted on each of the both feet of the user, and a step width calculation unit that calculates a step width of the user by using the distance between the both feet measured at the same timing and the height of the sensor.
