USER EQUIPMENT ANCHOR CAPABILITY INDICATION FOR SIDELINK-BASED POSITIONING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18513411 titled 'USER EQUIPMENT ANCHOR CAPABILITY INDICATION FOR SIDELINK-BASED POSITIONING

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes techniques for wireless communication involving a sidelink positioning procedure.

  • First User Equipment (UE) receives a capability enquiry message from a network entity.
  • The capability enquiry message requests an indication of whether the first UE can provide its location for the sidelink positioning procedure.
  • The first UE transmits a capability information message to the network node indicating its capabilities for participating in the sidelink positioning procedure.
  • The capabilities include the indication of whether the first UE can provide its location for the procedure.

Potential Applications

  • Enhanced location-based services
  • Improved emergency response systems
  • Enhanced vehicle-to-vehicle communication for autonomous driving

Problems Solved

  • Efficient communication for location-based services
  • Enhanced accuracy in determining the location of devices
  • Improved coordination between network entities and user equipment

Benefits

  • Increased reliability in location-based services
  • Enhanced network efficiency
  • Improved user experience in wireless communication.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a first user equipment (UE) receives, from a network entity, a capability enquiry message for a sidelink positioning procedure, the capability enquiry message including at least a request for an indication of whether the first UE has the capability to provide a location of the first UE for the sidelink positioning procedure, and transmits, to the network node, a capability information message indicating one or more capabilities of the first UE to participate in the sidelink positioning procedure, the one or more capabilities of the first UE including at least the indication of whether the first UE has the capability to provide the location of the first UE for the sidelink positioning procedure.
