COMMUNICATION METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18509869 titled 'COMMUNICATION METHOD AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method where a terminal device quickly accesses a cell by sending a wake-up signal to the cell, which then sends synchronization signal blocks (SSB) and system information (SI) to the terminal device. This reduces access delay and improves communication performance.

  • Terminal device receives a reference signal from a cell with fewer time domain resources than the total resources occupied by SSB and SI.
  • Terminal device sends a wake-up signal to the cell to prompt the transmission of SSB and/or SI.
  • Access delay is reduced, and communication performance is improved by quickly accessing the cell.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in:

  • Cellular networks
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Wireless communication systems

Problems Solved

This technology solves the following problems:

  • Access delay in connecting to a cell
  • Inefficient communication performance
  • Resource wastage in transmitting unnecessary signals

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Faster access to cells
  • Improved communication efficiency
  • Optimal utilization of resources

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimizing Cell Access with Wake-Up Signals: Improving Communication Performance and Efficiency

Original Abstract Submitted

A terminal device receives a reference signal from a first cell, where time domain resources occupied by the reference signal are fewer than total time domain resources occupied by a synchronization signal block (SSB) of the first cell and system information (SI) of the first cell. The terminal device sends a wake-up signal (WUS) to the first cell, where the wake-up signal is used to wake up the first cell to send the SSB and/or the SI. In this way, the terminal device can quickly access the cell, to reduce a delay of accessing the cell by the terminal device, and improve communication performance. The time domain resources occupied by the reference signal are fewer than the total time domain resources occupied by the SSB of the first cell and the SI of the first cell.
