DISPLAY PANEL AND DISPLAY DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18508964 titled 'DISPLAY PANEL AND DISPLAY DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The display panel described in the patent application includes a unique design in the peripheral area adjacent to the display area, with a corner area and a notch area that forms a notch. The distance between the display area and the outer edge of the corner area is larger than the distance between the display area and the outer edge of the notch area.

  • Plurality of pixels in a display area
  • Plurality of data lines in the display area
  • Plurality of scan lines in the display area
  • Scan driver in the peripheral area
  • Corner area adjacent to a corner of the display area
  • Notch area adjacent to the corner area

Potential Applications

The technology described in this patent application could be applied in various display panels, such as LCD screens, OLED displays, and LED screens.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display panel includes: a plurality of pixels in a display area; a plurality of data lines in the display area and extending along a first direction; a plurality of scan lines in the display area and extending along a second direction crossing the first direction; and a scan driver in a peripheral area adjacent to the display area and configured to provide a scan signal to the scan lines, wherein the peripheral area includes a corner area adjacent to a corner of the display area, and a notch area adjacent to the corner area and receding from a side of the peripheral area to form a notch, wherein a distance between the display area and an outer edge of the corner area is larger than a distance between the display area and an outer edge of the notch area.
