MULTI-VIEW AUDIO AND VIDEO INTERACTIVE PLAYBACK - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18508092 titled 'MULTI-VIEW AUDIO AND VIDEO INTERACTIVE PLAYBACK

Simplified Explanation

An interactive multi-view module synchronizes media items associated with an event and presents them in a multi-view player interface.

  • The module identifies media items created by capturing the event.
  • It synchronizes the audio portions of the media items based on a common reference timeline.
  • The media items are presented in an interactive multi-view player interface with multiple relative geographic locations.
  • Users can switch between media items and view a video density indicator showing the quantity of media items available at a given point in time.
  • A popularity indicator is displayed, determined by factors such as the number of viewers of the media items at the given point in time.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in live event coverage, virtual tours, interactive documentaries, and educational platforms.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of presenting multiple media items associated with an event in a synchronized and interactive manner, allowing users to easily navigate and explore different perspectives.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include enhanced user engagement, immersive viewing experience, and the ability to explore events from multiple angles.

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications of this technology include event streaming services, educational platforms, virtual tourism experiences, and interactive storytelling platforms.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be multi-camera live streaming platforms that allow users to switch between different camera angles during live events.

Unanswered Questions

How does the module handle media items with different audio qualities or formats?

The module may use audio processing techniques to normalize the audio portions of the media items before synchronizing them.

Can users interact with the media items in real-time during playback?

The article does not specify if real-time interaction with the media items is supported, which could be a valuable feature for enhancing user engagement.

Original Abstract Submitted

An interactive multi-view module identifies a plurality of media items associated with an event. Each of the plurality of media items is created by capturing the event. The interactive multi-view module synchronizes the audio portions of the media items according to a common reference timeline. The interactive multi-view module provides the media items for presentation in an interactive multi-view player interface based on the synchronized audio portions and multiple relative geographic locations. The interactive multi-view player interface allows a user of a plurality of users to switch between the plurality of media items, and indicates a video density indicating a quantity of media items available at a given point in time and a popularity indicator of one of the media items at the given point in time. The popularity indicator is determined using factors comprising a number of viewers of the media items at the given point in time.
