COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18496458 titled 'COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

    • Explanation:**

The patent application describes a communication method and apparatus for dual connectivity scenarios where a user equipment (UE) establishes connections to both a master radio access network node (MN) and a secondary radio access network node (SN). When the MN requests the SN to provide a multicast broadcast service (MBS) for the UE of the MN, the MN sends a request to the SN with an identifier for the MBS. The SN responds to the MN indicating agreement to provide the MBS service, allowing MBS data to be sent to the UE through the SN.

    • Bullet Points:**
  • Communication method and apparatus for dual connectivity scenarios
  • UE connects to both MN and SN
  • MN requests MBS service from SN for UE
  • SN agrees to provide MBS service for UE
  • MBS data sent to UE through SN
    • Potential Applications:**
  • Mobile communication networks
  • Broadcasting services
  • Multicast data delivery
    • Problems Solved:**
  • Efficient data delivery in dual connectivity scenarios
  • Seamless communication handover between MN and SN
  • Improved user experience with MBS services
    • Benefits:**
  • Enhanced network performance
  • Better utilization of resources
  • Improved reliability and quality of service for users

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments of this application disclose a communication method and a related communication apparatus. In a dual connectivity scenario, user equipment (UE) establishes a dual connection to a master radio access network node (MN) and a secondary radio access network node (SN). When the MN requests the SN to provide a multicast broadcast service (MBS) for the UE of the MN, the MN sends a first request to the SN, where the first request includes a first identifier corresponding to the MBS. After receiving the first request, the SN sends a first response to the MN, where the first response indicates that the SN agrees to provide the MBS service for the UE. In this way, MBS service data is sent to the UE through the SN in the dual connectivity scenario.
