ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING ERROR OF A SIGNAL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18483146 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING ERROR OF A SIGNAL

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes an electronic device with a microphone, speaker, communication circuit, and processor. The processor decodes a signal from an external device, outputs a signal through the speaker, compensates for distortion, and cancels echo based on the input signal received through the microphone.

  • The electronic device includes a microphone, speaker, communication circuit, and processor.
  • The processor decodes a signal from an external device and outputs a signal through the speaker.
  • The processor compensates for distortion by comparing the output signal with the original signal.
  • The processor cancels echo by analyzing the input signal received through the microphone.

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in:

  • Noise-canceling headphones
  • Voice-controlled devices
  • Audio conferencing systems

Problems Solved

  • Distortion in audio signals
  • Echo during audio playback
  • Improving sound quality in electronic devices

Benefits

  • Enhanced audio quality
  • Improved user experience
  • Clearer communication in audio devices

Potential Commercial Applications

  • Consumer electronics
  • Telecommunication devices
  • Audio equipment

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be noise-canceling headphones that use similar technology to cancel out background noise and improve sound quality.

Unanswered Questions

How does the processor compensate for distortion in the signal?

The processor compensates for distortion by analyzing the difference between the output signal and the original signal, adjusting the signal accordingly.

What is the specific technology used to cancel echo in the input signal?

The processor uses advanced algorithms to analyze the input signal received through the microphone and cancel out any echo present in the signal.

Original Abstract Submitted

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a microphone. The electronic device includes a speaker. The electronic device includes a communication circuit. The electronic device includes at least one processor. The at least one processor is configured to obtain a second signal based on decoding a first signal received through the communication circuit from an external electronic device. The at least one processor is configured to output a third signal through the speaker obtained based on executing decompression the second signal. The at least one processor is configured to compensate the second signal based on a difference between the second signal and the third signal representing a distortion of the third signal, in response to obtaining an input signal including the output third signal through the microphone. The at least one processor is configured to execute cancellation of an echo of the input signal based on the compensated second signal.
