METHOD OF PROCESSING IMAGE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR PERFORMING SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18482568 titled 'METHOD OF PROCESSING IMAGE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR PERFORMING SAME

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a technology for an electronic device to process images. The device can identify the status of specific pixels on a display module that corresponds to a camera module located underneath the display. It obtains display information of these target pixels when they are turned on and determines offset information of pixels in a captured image obtained from the camera module based on the display information. The device then corrects the captured image using the determined offset information.

  • The technology allows an electronic device to analyze the status of pixels on a display module above a camera module.
  • It can obtain display information of target pixels when they are active.
  • The device determines the offset information of pixels in a captured image based on the display information.
  • It corrects the captured image using the determined offset information.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in smartphones or tablets with front-facing cameras to improve image quality by correcting for any offset between the display and camera modules.
  • It can also be applied in other electronic devices with integrated cameras, such as laptops or smart TVs, to enhance image processing capabilities.

Problems Solved:

  • The technology addresses the issue of misalignment or offset between the display and camera modules, which can result in distorted or inaccurate images.
  • It solves the problem of capturing images with discrepancies caused by the physical arrangement of the camera and display modules.

Benefits:

  • By correcting the captured image based on the determined offset information, the technology improves the overall image quality and accuracy.
  • It enhances the user experience by ensuring that images captured from the camera module align properly with the displayed content.
  • The technology simplifies the image processing workflow by automatically correcting for any misalignment between the camera and display modules.

Original Abstract Submitted

A technology for an electronic device to process images is provided. The electronic device identifies status of target pixels included in an area of a display module corresponding to a camera module located underneath the display module when the camera module is operated, obtains display information of the target pixels when the target pixels are on, determines offset information of pixels included in a captured image obtained from the camera module, based on the display information of the target pixels, and corrects the captured image, based on the determined offset information.
