The recording device includes an elongated member and a housing section . The housing section 60 houses the elongated member , and has a fixed end , a moving end, and an elongated variable section. A curved portion, which is a portion where the variable section is folded back on the way, moves following the movement of the carriage. In the height direction HD of the housing section , film member having flexibility is disposed between the elongated member and the housing section . A coefficient of friction between the film member and the elongated member is smaller than a coefficient of friction between the housing section and the elongated member
