LIQUID EJECTION APPARATUS AND PRINT HEAD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18476373 titled 'LIQUID EJECTION APPARATUS AND PRINT HEAD

Simplified Explanation

The liquid ejection apparatus described in the patent application includes a control circuit, a drive signal output circuit, and a print head with a piezoelectric element that ejects liquid. The print head also has a pressure chamber substrate with multiple pressure chambers, a switch circuit, a wiring substrate, and a temperature detection portion.

  • Piezoelectric element driven by drive signal
  • Pressure chamber substrate with deformable chambers
  • Switch circuit controls supply of drive signal
  • Temperature detection portion monitors chamber temperature

Potential Applications

The technology described in the patent application could be used in various industries such as printing, biotechnology, and manufacturing where precise liquid ejection is required.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of accurately controlling the ejection of liquid from a print head by monitoring the temperature of the pressure chambers and adjusting the supply of the drive signal accordingly.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved accuracy and efficiency in liquid ejection, reduced waste of liquid materials, and increased reliability of the print head.

Potential Commercial Applications

One potential commercial application of this technology could be in the development of high-speed and high-precision inkjet printers for commercial printing and packaging industries.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be the use of temperature sensors in print heads to monitor and control the ejection of liquid, but the specific combination of elements described in this patent application may be novel.

Unanswered Questions

How does the temperature detection portion affect the performance of the print head?

The temperature detection portion plays a crucial role in monitoring the temperature of the pressure chambers, but the exact impact of this information on the performance of the print head is not explicitly mentioned in the abstract.

What is the significance of the switch circuit in the liquid ejection process?

The switch circuit is mentioned as controlling the supply of the drive signal to the piezoelectric element, but the specific function and importance of this component in the liquid ejection process are not elaborated on in the abstract.

Original Abstract Submitted

A liquid ejection apparatus includes a control circuit, a drive signal output circuit that outputs a drive signal, and a print head that ejects a liquid, in which the print head includes a piezoelectric element that is driven by receiving the drive signal, a pressure chamber substrate that is provided with a plurality of pressure chambers of which volumes change due to deformation, a switch circuit that switches whether or not to supply the drive signal to the piezoelectric element, a wiring substrate that is provided with the switch circuit, and a temperature detection portion that detects temperature information of the pressure chamber, and the temperature information detected by the temperature detection portion in a period in which the switch circuit does not supply the drive signal to the piezoelectric element is input to the control circuit.
