INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING PROGRAM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18475226 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING PROGRAM

Simplified Explanation

The information processing apparatus described in the patent application is designed to analyze both optical and radiation images of a subject to identify regions of interest. Here are the key points of the innovation:

  • The processor acquires optical images of a subject and radiation images obtained through radiography.
  • It estimates the position of regions of interest based on the optical images.
  • It then specifies corresponding regions of interest in the radiation images.

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in medical imaging for more accurate and efficient diagnosis of conditions by combining optical and radiation imaging techniques.

Problems Solved

This technology helps in aligning and correlating optical and radiation images of a subject, improving the accuracy of identifying regions of interest for further analysis.

Benefits

The apparatus can provide more comprehensive and detailed information about a subject's condition by combining different imaging modalities.

Potential Commercial Applications

One potential commercial application of this technology could be in the development of advanced medical imaging systems for healthcare facilities.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be the use of image fusion techniques in medical imaging to combine different types of images for better analysis and diagnosis.

Unanswered Questions

The article does not address the potential limitations or challenges that may arise when implementing this technology in practical settings.

Original Abstract Submitted

An information processing apparatus comprising at least one processor, wherein the processor is configured to: acquire at least one optical image obtained by optically imaging a subject; acquire at least one radiation image obtained by radiography of the subject from a direction substantially the same as an imaging direction of the optical imaging; estimate a position of at least one first region of interest based on the optical image; and specify a second region of interest corresponding to the position of the first region of interest in the radiation image.
