MEDIUM TRANSPORT DEVICE AND IMAGE READING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18469591 titled 'MEDIUM TRANSPORT DEVICE AND IMAGE READING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure describes a system for adjusting the height of a discharge tray on a device main body.

  • The placement member includes a discharge tray for receiving discharged medium.
  • The height adjustment member can be mounted between the placement member and the device main body.
  • The first lock member locks the coupling between the device main body and the height adjustment member.
  • The second lock member locks the coupling between the height adjustment member and the placement member.

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in printers, copiers, or any other device that discharges a medium and requires height adjustment for the discharge tray.

Problems Solved

This system solves the problem of having a fixed height discharge tray that may not be suitable for all users or applications.

Benefits

The adjustable height feature allows for customization based on user preferences or specific requirements of the medium being discharged.

Potential Commercial Applications

This technology could be valuable in the office equipment industry, particularly for companies that produce devices with discharge trays.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be adjustable height trays in furniture design, where similar mechanisms are used to adjust the height of shelves or tables.

What is the manufacturing cost of implementing this technology in devices?

Implementing this technology may increase the manufacturing cost of devices due to the additional components required for the height adjustment mechanism. However, the exact cost would depend on factors such as materials used, production volume, and assembly complexity.

How does this technology compare to existing height adjustment systems in similar devices?

This technology offers a specific solution for adjusting the height of a discharge tray on a device main body, which may be more specialized and efficient compared to generic height adjustment systems used in similar devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure includes a placement member including a discharge tray configured to receive a medium discharged by the discharge unit configured to discharge a medium. The placement member is attachable to and detachable from a lower portion of a device main body. The present disclosure includes a height adjustment member configured to be mountable between the placement member and the device main body. The present disclosure includes a first lock member configured to lock coupling between the device main body and the height adjustment member, and a second lock member configured to lock coupling between the height adjustment member and the placement member.
