METHODS FOR TRANSMISSION OF MEDICAL DATASETS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18467118 titled 'METHODS FOR TRANSMISSION OF MEDICAL DATASETS
Simplified Explanation
The present invention relates to a method for transmitting medical datasets securely by anonymizing data elements based on a provided security profile.
- Providing a medical dataset from an internal data memory
- Providing a security profile with rules for data anonymization
- Creating an anonymized medical dataset based on the provided dataset and security profile
- Transmitting the anonymized medical dataset to an external data memory
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in healthcare settings, research institutions, and telemedicine platforms to securely transmit medical data while protecting patient privacy.
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of securely transmitting sensitive medical data while ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include enhanced data security, protection of patient privacy, and facilitation of data sharing for research and analysis purposes.
Potential Commercial Applications
Potential commercial applications of this technology include healthcare data management systems, telemedicine platforms, research institutions, and data analytics companies.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be methods for data anonymization in various industries to protect sensitive information while allowing for data sharing and analysis.
Unanswered Questions
1. How does this method ensure the accuracy and integrity of the anonymized medical dataset during transmission? 2. Are there any specific regulations or standards that this method complies with in terms of data security and privacy in the healthcare industry?
Original Abstract Submitted
One or more example embodiments of the present invention relates to a method for transmission of medical datasets, including providing a medical dataset from an internal data memory, the medical dataset including data elements, each data element of the data elements having a data type, providing a security profile, the security profile including rules for a degree of a data anonymization of data elements of a respective data type, creating an anonymized medical dataset based on the provided medical dataset and the provided security profile, the data elements of the medical dataset are each anonymized based on the respective data type and the security profile, the anonymized medical dataset includes the anonymized data elements and transmitting the anonymized medical dataset to an external data memory.
