LASER PROCESSING HEAD AND LASER PROCESSING SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18465197 titled 'LASER PROCESSING HEAD AND LASER PROCESSING SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a laser processing head that includes various components such as a bend mirror, a dichroic mirror, condensing lenses, an image sensor, and an adjuster. These components work together to adjust the condensing state of laser beams on both the workpiece side and the image sensor side.

  • The laser processing head includes a bend mirror that redirects a second laser beam to intersect with a first laser beam.
  • A dichroic mirror is used to transmit most of the first laser beam and reflect most of the second laser beam.
  • A workpiece-side condensing lens is used to focus and irradiate the laser beams onto the workpiece.
  • An image sensor receives the remaining portion of the first laser beam reflected by the dichroic mirror and the remaining portion of the second laser beam transmitted through the dichroic mirror.
  • A detection-side condensing lens is used to focus and irradiate the laser beams onto the image sensor.
  • An adjuster is employed to adjust the condensing state of the laser beams on the workpiece side based on the detection-side condensing state observed on the image sensor.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Laser processing and cutting of various materials.
  • Laser engraving and marking on surfaces.
  • Laser welding and joining of components.
  • Laser drilling and micromachining.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Ensures precise and accurate laser beam alignment and condensing on the workpiece.
  • Allows for real-time monitoring and adjustment of the laser beam condensing state.
  • Improves the quality and consistency of laser processing results.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced precision and accuracy in laser processing applications.
  • Real-time monitoring and adjustment capabilities for optimal results.
  • Improved efficiency and productivity in laser processing operations.
  • Consistent and high-quality laser processing outcomes.

Original Abstract Submitted

Laser processing head () includes a bend mirror that bends a second laser beam in a direction intersecting a first laser beam; a dichroic mirror that transmits most of the first laser beam and reflects most of the second laser beam; a workpiece-side condensing lens that condenses the most of the each laser beam to irradiate the workpiece; an image sensor that receives a rest of the first laser beam reflected by the dichroic mirror and a rest of the second laser beam transmitted through the dichroic mirror; a detection-side condensing lens that condenses the rest of the each laser beam to irradiate the image sensor; and an adjuster that adjusts a workpiece-side condensing state on an image plane on a workpiece side. The image sensor detects a detection-side condensing state on an image plane on an image sensor side. The workpiece-side condensing state is adjusted by the adjuster based on the detection-side condensing state.
