REMOTE-CONTROL APPARATUS, REMOTE-CONTROLLED VEHICLE, REMOTE-CONTROL SYSTEM, AND REMOTE-CONTROL PROGRAM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18464010 titled 'REMOTE-CONTROL APPARATUS, REMOTE-CONTROLLED VEHICLE, REMOTE-CONTROL SYSTEM, AND REMOTE-CONTROL PROGRAM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a remote-control apparatus for vehicles that allows a remote operator to receive and provide assistance information to a vehicle. Here are the key points:

  • The receiver in the apparatus receives vehicle condition information and surrounding condition information from the vehicle.
  • An accepting unit presents the vehicle condition information to a remote operator and accepts assistance information from the remote operator.
  • A determiner calculates the expiration term of the assistance information, which is the end time of the valid period for the assistance information.
  • The sender then sends the assistance information and its expiration term to the vehicle.

Potential Applications

This technology has potential applications in various industries and scenarios, including:

  • Remote control and assistance for autonomous vehicles.
  • Remote monitoring and assistance for industrial vehicles and machinery.
  • Remote control and assistance for drones and unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Remote control and assistance for robotic systems in healthcare or manufacturing.

Problems Solved

The technology addresses several problems in remote control and assistance for vehicles:

  • Limited access to real-time vehicle condition information for remote operators.
  • Lack of a standardized expiration term for assistance information, leading to potential confusion or misuse.
  • Difficulty in providing timely and accurate assistance to vehicles in remote locations.
  • Inefficient communication between remote operators and vehicles, leading to delays or errors in assistance.

Benefits

The technology offers several benefits for remote control and assistance of vehicles:

  • Improved safety and efficiency in vehicle operations through real-time monitoring and assistance.
  • Enhanced communication and collaboration between remote operators and vehicles.
  • Standardized expiration term for assistance information ensures timely and relevant assistance.
  • Increased reliability and accuracy in remote control and assistance, reducing the risk of errors or accidents.

Original Abstract Submitted

In a remote-control apparatus, a receiver receives, from a vehicle, vehicle condition information representing a condition of the vehicle and a surrounding condition around the vehicle. An accepting unit presents the vehicle condition information to a remote operator, and accepts assistance information for remote assistance of the vehicle inputted by the remote operator. A determiner determines an expiration term of the assistance information. The expiration term of the assistance information is defined as an end time of an assistance-information valid period that has started since an input time of the assistance information. A sender sends, to the vehicle, the assistance information and the expiration term of the assistance information.
