PRODUCTION METHOD FOR THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR ARTHROSIS, AND THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR ARTHROSIS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18463631 titled 'PRODUCTION METHOD FOR THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR ARTHROSIS, AND THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR ARTHROSIS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for producing a therapeutic agent for arthrosis using mesenchymal stem cells. Here are the key points:

  • The method involves culturing a population of mesenchymal stem cells and imaging them to acquire a cell image.
  • The cell image is then analyzed to determine the density of the mesenchymal stem cells present.
  • Colonies formed by the mesenchymal stem cells in the population are detected based on the density information.
  • The population is sorted based on the average size of the detected colonies or the colony forming unit.
  • The sorted population is then used to produce a therapeutic agent for arthrosis.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Treatment of arthrosis: The therapeutic agent produced using this method can be used to treat arthrosis, a degenerative joint disease.
  • Regenerative medicine: Mesenchymal stem cells have the potential to differentiate into various cell types, making them valuable for regenerative medicine applications.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient production: The method allows for the efficient production of a therapeutic agent for arthrosis by sorting the population of mesenchymal stem cells based on colony size or colony forming unit.
  • Quality control: By analyzing the density of the mesenchymal stem cells and detecting colonies, the method ensures that the therapeutic agent is produced from a population of high-quality cells.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved efficacy: The sorted population of mesenchymal stem cells can potentially result in a therapeutic agent with enhanced efficacy in treating arthrosis.
  • Standardization: The method provides a standardized approach to producing a therapeutic agent for arthrosis, ensuring consistent quality and effectiveness.

Original Abstract Submitted

There are provided a production method for a therapeutic agent for arthrosis, in which a population including a plurality of mesenchymal stem cells being cultured is imaged to acquire a cell image, the cell image is analyzed to derive density information on the mesenchymal stem cells in the cell image, colonies, which are formed by the mesenchymal stem cells in the population, are detected based on the density information, and the population is sorted based on at least one of an average colony size or a colony forming unit, which is derived from the detected colonies, and provided a therapeutic agent for arthrosis, which is produced by the production method for a therapeutic agent for arthrosis.
