DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING DUAL CONNECTIVITY STRUCTURE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18462835 titled 'DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING DUAL CONNECTIVITY STRUCTURE IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for operating a base station in a 5G or pre-5G communication system to achieve higher data transfer rates compared to 4G systems. Here are the key points:

  • The method involves receiving a request message from a master node (MN) that includes information about different band combinations.
  • The base station measures the data rate for each band combination and generates second data rate information.
  • Based on the second data rate information and first data rate information (which may be included in the request message), the base station selects a band combination.
  • The base station then transmits a response message to another base station, which includes the selected band combination.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • 5G or pre-5G communication systems that require higher data transfer rates.
  • Mobile networks and telecommunications infrastructure that need to support increased data traffic.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Addressing the need for higher data transfer rates in 5G or pre-5G systems compared to 4G systems.
  • Optimizing band combinations to achieve the best data rate performance.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enables faster and more efficient data transfer in 5G or pre-5G communication systems.
  • Allows for better utilization of available bands and improved network performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate than a 4generation (4G) communication system. A method of operating a base station is provided. The method includes receiving a request message including at least one band combination from a master node (MN), measuring a data rate for the at least one band combination and generating second data rate information, selecting a band combination from among the at least one band combination, based on the second data rate information and first data rate information, and transmitting a response message including a band combination selected from among the at least one band combination to another base station. The request message may include the first data rate information. The first data rate information may include information on the data rate when the base station uses the at least one band combination.
