MANAGEMENT OF ANTENNA SWITCHING ACCORDING TO A SOUNDING REFERENCE SYMBOL ANTENNA SWITCHING CONFIGURATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18456871 titled 'MANAGEMENT OF ANTENNA SWITCHING ACCORDING TO A SOUNDING REFERENCE SYMBOL ANTENNA SWITCHING CONFIGURATION

Simplified Explanation

The present disclosure relates to wireless communication and specifically to a dual connectivity antenna configuration. The abstract describes a method where a user equipment (UE) receives an antenna switch selection associated with a dual connectivity antenna configuration. This configuration allows communication via a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT. Based on the antenna switch selection, the method determines the quantity of communication chains associated with the first RAT that are affected by an antenna switching process of the second RAT. The method then selectively permits a reconfiguration of the dual connectivity antenna configuration according to the antenna switch selection.

  • The patent application describes a method for managing antenna switching in a dual connectivity antenna configuration.
  • The method involves receiving an antenna switch selection associated with the configuration.
  • The configuration allows communication via two different radio access technologies (RATs).
  • Based on the antenna switch selection, the method determines the quantity of communication chains affected by the antenna switching process.
  • The method selectively permits a reconfiguration of the dual connectivity antenna configuration based on the quantity of communication chains.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Wireless communication systems that utilize multiple RATs.
  • Mobile devices with dual connectivity capabilities.
  • Networks that require efficient antenna switching for seamless communication.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Efficient management of antenna switching in dual connectivity configurations.
  • Minimizing disruptions in communication caused by antenna switching.
  • Optimizing the performance of communication chains associated with different RATs.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved reliability and stability of wireless communication.
  • Enhanced efficiency in utilizing multiple RATs for communication.
  • Seamless switching between different RATs without interruptions.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive an antenna switch selection associated with a dual connectivity antenna configuration, wherein the antenna switch selection is associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) and the dual connectivity antenna configuration permits communication via the first RAT and a second RAT; determine, based at least in part on the antenna switching selection, a quantity of communication chains, associated with the first RAT, that are affected by an antenna switching process of the second RAT; and selectively permit, based at least in part on the quantity of communication chains, a reconfiguration of the dual connectivity antenna configuration according to the antenna switch selection. Numerous other aspects are provided.
